Tort reform is essential to a strong economy. As Lieutenant Governor, I worked with the State Legislature and Governor McMaster to bring forth the first major tort reform bill in 20 years by working with the signing of H.3430 into law – curbing lawsuit abuse, restoring fairness in the courts, and helping lower insurance costs that hold back small businesses and job creators.
But the work isn’t finished. South Carolina still needs real reform that assigns fault fairly and reins in excessive damages. As Governor, I will continue the fight for bold, conservative tort reform that protects businesses, encourages investment, and keeps our economy growing.
